Do quilts shrink when washed?
As I gingerly lifted my grandmother’s hand-stitched quilt out of the washing machine, my heart beat with trepidation. Would it be smaller, ruined, unrecognizable? But as I unfolded it and saw the intricate design and familiar fabric, I let out a sigh of relief. Yes, quilts may shrink in the wash, but the memories and love sewn into each stitch only grow stronger with each cycle.
